Today, many of the poems by the gentlemen [in the gathering] were about this very issue, and they were completely correct and sound. There is a strong and powerful motivation to convince the Iranian nation that “you must back down, sir.” The world’s radio stations, mass media around the world, enemy media outlets, and a host of think tanks and intellectual groups are sitting and devising plans to convince the Iranian nation that you must back down against America, and there is no other choice. Well, our nation, thank God, is standing firm, but spiritual energy must be continuously injected and constantly revived. This is one of the teachings. In this very supplication of Sahifa Sajjadiyyeh, it says: “Wa la taj’al li-fajirin wa la kafirin ‘alayya… yada” — meaning, do not make me indebted to a sinner or an unbeliever, do not make me in need of them, may my eyes not look to them [for help], may I not feel weakness in front of them. This is one of the teachings. When he asks God not to let him fall into such a state against the enemy, its meaning is that one should not fall into such a state against the enemy.
