Among all these movements that exist around the world — this mixture of truth and falsehood, this oppressive and satanic dominance of devilish people over the lives of others — in this wretched atmosphere, which is the atmosphere of arrogance, the same atmosphere of the system of domination that we have repeated many times, a nation has emerged that speaks the truth, seeks the truth, seeks human rights, seeks the establishment of justice. That nation is our dear Iran. By the blessing of Islam, by the blessing of the revolution.
The phenomenon of the Basij is an innovative phenomenon. Not in the sense that popular resistance forces did not exist in other countries and elsewhere — no, we know they did. However, resistance forces in various countries around the world — in the West, the East, and so on — are usually related to periods of oppression, pressure, and struggles. After the struggle ends — whether these resistance groups themselves come to power or others come to power with their help — that resistance force disappears and this popular organization comes to an end. This is how it works in the world. Those familiar with popular resistance movements in Africa, Europe, Asia, and various countries know this.
I have said many times that America and the system of domination along with America have done everything they could possibly do against Iran, the Iranian nation, and the Islamic Republic system. Whatever they have not done, they could not do — there have been reasons for that, they could not do it due to those reasons. Everything that was possible for them to do in enmity, they have done. And the result is what you see: this great tree, this blessed tree, this tree of Tuba, grows more powerful day by day.
What is meant by conditional pressure is that they apply a pressure, for example sanctions, and then they say, "We will lift this on the condition that such and such action is taken." It is not that they completely make one despair; they say, "We will lift it, but the condition is that this action must be taken." This is a very dangerous thing, a very important thing. These conditions may be severely misleading and destructive. In such a situation, what should one do? Here, one realizes that the remedy for this is: "So be steadfast as you have been commanded, along with those who have turned back [in repentance] with you" (Quran 11:112).
One of the teachings is standing firm and not surrendering to the oppressor. Today, many of the poems by the gentlemen [in the gathering] were about this very issue, and they were completely correct and sound. There is a strong and powerful motivation to convince the Iranian nation that "you must back down, sir." The world's radio stations, mass media around the world, enemy media outlets, and a host of think tanks and intellectual groups are sitting and devising plans to convince the Iranian nation that you must back down against America, and there is no other choice. Well, our nation, thank God, is standing firm, but spiritual energy must be continuously injected and constantly revived. This is one of the teachings.
